Anyone else grab La Tartine Gourmande when it came to market earlier this year? I'd actually forgotten about the purchase until I found it sitting on a shelf still wrapped in Anthropologie's brown kraft paper from when I bought it. Anyone else love buying cook books but never get to the cooking part?
After sitting for a moment and flipping through the pages, an idea jumped into my head. Why not dish out my own mini version of Julie and Julia. That's right, I decided to cook this book! My plan, each week I'll make a recipe and offer them up to two tiny test tasters ~ Baby Bear and Little Girl. It will be a fun little exercise, I hope.
First up celeriac, sweet potato, apple soup. Me and my able assistants hit the market and loaded up our shopping cart. Lady luck was on our side, we grabbed the last bushel of marjoram on the shelves. yippeee! This recipe includes lots of veggies and as expected the most time consuming piece: chopping. Lots and lots of chopping. But it was worth the effort, the soup is delish!
The votes from my taste testers:
Emerson, 5 ~ it smells gross. she passed.
Max, 2 1/2 ~ I don't like that. his stock answer for everything.
verdict ~ this recipe is adult's only and delicious. more for me!
I made a few edits along the way ~ I threw in some celery, I used cream instead of heavy cream and I skipped the parsley infused finishing oil {part laziness, part out of time ~ Pooh Bear woke from his nap}.
stay tuned for next week's dish!
