Day 2 in New York saw another glorious day. Top on our agenda (after breakfast, of course), was renting wheels in Central Park. 843 acres of national treasure, I've visited the Park a few times but never really explored. So, we cabbed to the Tavern, hopped on our bikes- with a tag-along for little girl - and off we went.
It. Was. Awesome.
Six miles of awesomeness, to be exact. Bikers, runners, roller bladers , carriages, strollers, couples, kids... I loved every inch of it. I failed miserably, however, when it came time to climb the Great Hill. Ugh. Not my proudest moment, I retreated to the curb midhill to catch my breath. Hello, old fat lady. Towing 40+ pounds got the best of me. Loser.
Throughout the ride, more than one passer-by smiled in our direction and chuckled "your partner isn't doing much pedaling back there". Sweet girl. She was over the ride as soon as it started, focusing solely on another mode of transportation: horse-drawn carriage. ...this bike has no hooves and no tail. boring.... Miss Pippy got her carriage ride, and face painting, and gelato, and much more, later that day. Check it out.

{The Museum of Natural History}
I can't say enough good things about this museum. It was amazing. The exhibits, displays and markings were clean, crisp and perfectly designed. Sitting on the brink of Central Park ain't too shabby, either. Emerson and I loved it.
{how amazing is this life-sized dinosaur frame? so awesome.}

Best Moments NYC, Day 2. Waking up and snuggling with little girl, Simba and Shenzi (our bed was crowded) on a lazy Sunday morning, taking my first bike ride and carriage ride through Central Park with Emerson by my side, enjoying fruity gelatos on a perfect Sunday morning in sunny NYC, listening to the delightful cadence of our carriage driver's speech - luck of the Irish, he was. Listening to little girl sing and chatter throughout our twenty block walk up the Upper West side en route to the Museum, watching an impeccably dressed elderly woman cross the street wearing red from head to toe (missed the shot! dang camera).
And best of all, hearing Miss Pippy interrupt the silence in the car as we left the City with a wistful sentiment "Mommy, I'm going to miss New York."
Love that little girl.
Visit New York -
9/11 Memorial - Can you believe it has been 10 years? Advance ticket registration required.
Central Park - you could spend two days here and still not do it all.
Bike and Roll- they have a few locations throughout NY. Check their respective inventories, not every location has taga-a-long, kid seats, etc...
Tour Guide - I left my cards at home, but these are awesome and available for many different cities.
Tickets- always come here for deals on dozens of performances. Tickets go on sale twice - once for midday and once for evening.
The Museum of Natural History-Miss Pippy is borderline obsessed with Dinosaurs. This is a world class joint.
Hilton Fashion District - built in 2010, this property is awesome and has a rooftop bar. The rooms were clean and we scored an awesome spot - Rm. 1003. No city streets/traffic noise (we overlooked an alley) and minimal hotel noise (far enough from the elevator and one room away from the dead-end). The on-site restaurant {Rare} was fine, nothing exceptional, but it was easy.
